It’s hard to believe Prince Louis is already four years old. Prince William and Kate Middleton welcomed the youngest member of the Cambridge Family on April 23, 2018, and the years have flown by ever since. It was only just last year that the little one started attending nursery school!
In keeping with tradition, Kate Middleton shared a series of new portraits of her youngest son on April 22, a day before his birthday. “4 years old tomorrow,” she captioned a couple of photos of Prince Louis smiling and running on the beach in a pair of shorts and star-patterned sweater.

However, the mother of three, who also has eight-year-old Prince George and six-year-old Princess Charlotte with husband Prince William, couldn’t help but share one more photo that she took of the young royal for his big day. “Thank you for all the lovely birthday messages for Prince Louis today! 🎂,” the caption read.

Prince Louis’s fourth birthday comes just two days after his great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, turned 96 years old on April 21. The queen, who had been recovering from COVID-19 at Windsor Castle for several weeks, celebrated the occasion by staying at the Sandringham Estate. “She doesn’t have to be monarch there,” a former staff member told People. “She can be Elizabeth rather than the queen.”
In an image taken by the paparazzi on her birthday, Queen Elizabeth can be seen going for a drive in her green Range Rover wearing a pair of tinted sunglasses, a silk scarf, and hot pink lipstick.
This year’s birthday also happens to fall during the queen’s Platinum Jubilee, which celebrates her 70th year as Britain’s monarch.

In honor of the occasion, the Royal Family Twitter account shared a portrait of Queen Elizabeth at age two. “Happy Birthday Your Majesty,” the tweet began. “Today as The Queen turns 96, we’re sharing this photograph of the young Princess Elizabeth at aged 2. Then, in 1928, it was never expected she would be Queen, and this year Her Majesty is celebrating her #PlatinumJubilee—a first in British History.”
Happy birthday to both Prince Louis and Queen Elizabeth!
