Just a few months after sharing a rare health update amid her ongoing battle with chronic Lyme disease, Bella Hadid got candid about her recovery. The 26-year-old model was first diagnosed with the tick-born illness in 2012 and recently shared that flare-ups and a low-grade jaw infection have taken a toll on her self-confidence. On August 6, she shared a new post to let her fans know that she’s feeling “healthy” after “15 years of invisible suffering.”
In the caption of an Instagram slideshow featuring years of medical reports and recent treatments, Hadid revealed that she has been taking time off work and social media to focus on her health. “The little me that suffered would be so proud of grown me for not giving up on myself,” she began. “Thankful to my mommy for keeping all of my medical records, sticking by me, never leaving my side, protecting, supporting, but most of all, believing me through all of this.”
She continued, “Living in this state, worsening with time and work while trying to make myself, my family and the people who support me, proud, had taken a toll on me in ways I can’t really explain. To be that sad and sick with the most blessings/privilege/opportunity/love around me was quite possibly the most confusing thing ever.”

Throughout her post Hadid reiterated the love she has for her fans and assured her 59.3 million Instagram followers that she is “okay” and they “do not have to worry” about her. “If I had to go through all of this again, to get here, to this exact moment I’m in right now, with all of you, finally healthy, I would do it all again. It made me who I am today,” she wrote. “The universe works in the most painful and beautiful ways but I need to say that if you are struggling- it will get better. I promise. Take a step away, stay strong, have faith in your path, walk in your truth and the clouds will start to clear up.”
She ended her message by thanking her team, doctors, and fans for their ongoing support and promised she’ll be “back when I’m ready.” She also shared a second post in honor of her “Angel,” her Glizzy P. Beans, a.k.a. Petunia, a.k.a. Beans.
